This tax credit is for top level athletes who live in Québec on December 31st of the applicable tax year, and who are recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport.
Revenu Québec says…
If you were resident in Québec on December 31, 2015, and, for 2015, were recognized as a top-level athlete by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport, you may be entitled to a refundable tax credit. Only an athlete can claim this credit.
Keep the certificate issued to you by the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport on file in case we ask for it.
Follow these steps in H&R Block’s tax software to file your 2015 taxes:
Important: Before you begin, ensure that you told us that you lived in QUÉBEC on December 31st of the 2015 tax year, in H&R Block’s tax software. To do this:
- Click the HOME tab.
- Click the ABOUT YOU icon, and click the Your residence link. You will find yourself here:
Once you have confirmed you residence location, claim your tax credit for a top-level athlete by following these steps:
- Click the PREPARE tab.
- Click the OTHER icon. You will find yourself here:
- Under the OTHER DEDUCTIONS heading, select the checkbox labelled Other Québec tax credits.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Continue.
When you arrive at the Other Québec tax credits page, enter your information into the tax software.
