The Newfoundland and Labrador Seniors’ Benefit (NLSB) is a refundable tax credit for seniors (over 65 years of age as of December 31st) who have low income.
Note: The Newfoundland and Labrador Seniors’ Benefit is fully funded by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. If you are eligible for the credit, your payment will be automatically included on your October GST/HST cheque (as a single payment amount).
This tax credit will be automatically paid to you if you meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- You are 65 years of age of older by December 31st of the current tax year
- You file an annual income tax return
- You have low income
The Newfoundland and Labrador government says…..
Seniors with net income of up to $29,284 are eligible to receive a maximum benefit of $1,059. The amount of the benefit will be phased out as net income increases between $29,284 and $38,366.
The amount of the credit is based on family net income from the previous year.
