CRA NETFILE Error: Information does not match when attempting to NETFILE

You will see the following NETFILE error message in H&R Block’s 2015 tax software if information in your return does not match the information the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has on file for you:

The information sent to the Canada Revenue Agency doesn't match the information currently on record. If you still get this error after your second attempt, please call the Canada Revenue Agency's e-Services Helpdesk at 1-800-714-7257 for further details. Note: Your account will be locked after five unsuccessful attempts.

To correct this error, make sure your personal information is correct and matches the information the CRA has on file for you: name, date of birth, social insurance number, address, province of residency, date you moved to Canada (if applicable), your marital status, and dependant information. If you get this error again after your second attempt, we recommend that you contact CRA’s e-services Helpdesk at 1-800-714-7257 for more details.

Note: If you have already informed the CRA of a change in your name, marital status, or address, answering Yes to these questions and/or providing a date of move implies that there is another change. This will result in a NETFILE rejection as the information in your return does not match that which is on the CRA’s records.

 

Did you change your name in 2015?

If you answered Yes to this question in error, you can change it to No and NETFILE your return. If your name changed in 2015 but you have not informed CRA, you must inform them first before you file your return. You can find this question on the Your personal information page under the ABOUT YOU icon of the HOME tab.

 

Did your marital status change in 2015?

If you answered Yes to this question in error, you can change it to No and NETFILE your return. If your marital status changed in 2015 but you have not informed CRA, you must inform them first before you file your return. You must report a change in your marital status at the end of the month following the month it changes, except in the case of a separation. If you’re separate you must wait until the separation lasts for at least 90 days before notifying the CRA of the change. You can find this question on the Your family page under the ABOUT YOU icon of the HOME tab.

 

If your province or territory of residence changed in 2015, enter the date of your move

If you entered the date of your move here but you have already informed the CRA of an address change, remove the date entered in this field. You can find this question on the Your residence page under the ABOUT YOU icon of the HOME tab.
